This is an all new purpose built electric hybrid car from the big German brand BMW under its ‘i’ sub brand. The car is built on a unique idea and so it delivers lots of unique features. The all new BMW i3 is powered by a 125 kilowatt motor for the rear wheels and a small 2 cylinder engine working as a generator for the motor. The Powertrain generates 170 horsepower and 184 lb ft torque. Acceleration from 0-62 mph is 7.2 seconds and the driving range is up to 100 miles on a single charge. Two driving modes, Eco pro and Eco Pro plus are offered to meet the needs of drivers. The car will be available from next spring at a base price of $41,350.

For 2014, Mercedes Benz E-Class electric received minor changes to stay in the competition. The five passenger compact hatchback gets a 100 kW motor and lithium ion battery pack that pushes the car from 0-60 mph in 10 seconds and the driving range are up to 115 miles on a full charge. This is a 2+2 coupe that is powered by a 1.5 liter turbocharged inline three cylinder engine plus an electric motor and lithium ion battery pack that produces 362 horsepower and 420 lb ft of torque. The i8 is 10 pounds lighter and 1.5 inches longer than the 3 series. The car is equipped with a range of advance features to satisfy the needs of the driver in a traditional style of BMW. This is one of the most popular upcoming electric cars.  On electric only mode the car can move up to 22 miles at a top speed of 75 mph. Like BMW i3 the i8 will also hit the dealership in next spring at a base price of $136,000.
