The 2014 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel has made a breakthrough in providing outstanding fuel-efficiency in the full-sized truck category. The environmental protection agency (EPA) has recorded an impressive 28mpg fuel-economy on the highway-cycle test, which is outrageous for a truck weighing half a ton.
Maintaining its previous year’s record of 25mpg from the 2013 Ram, the 2014 model has secured the top two spots in highway-fuel rankings of EPA.
The great and powerful Ram is capable of towing 9200 pounds through its muscular 3.0 Liter EcoDiesel V6 engine, which delivers a max torque of 420lb-ft. The immaculate performance is achieved through its unprecedented MultiJet 2 Common-Rail-Fuel Injection System, rarely found in the North American Chrysler models. The MultiJet 2 has been intelligently engineered for noise reduction and enhancement in low-speed throttle.
The 2014 Ram features some major powertrain enhancements including;
- Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR)
- High Pressured EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation)
- Variable Swirl Intake Ports
- Variable Geometry TurboCharger
- Tier 2-Bin 5/LEV II emissions regulation
The aforementioned specs reflect 2014 Ram’s selection as the 2014 Motor Trend Truck of the Year.
Complementing the outrageous engine potentials for the Ram 1500 is its TorqueFlite 8-Speed automatic transmission system.
Ram’s domination does not stop at its performance levels. With exquisite features like active grille shutters, electric power steering and its lightweight aluminum components, the truck delivers an overall matchless driving experience. The automatic grille shutters boost the truck’s aerodynamics by optimizing the airflow, while the EPS ensures you get a smooth control of the vehicle without applying a constant hydraulic pump pressure on the engine.
